On December 7th, 1941, America was instantaneously thrust into the midst of another war being fought on a global scale. All across the country, people reacted first with shock and alarm, followed by a grim determination to do their part in helping their nation win the epic struggle against the Axis powers. Cities across America began gearing up to produce the materials that American soldiers would need to engage the enemy. These posts will show how one such city (St. Louis), made great contributions to the war effort despite the immense toll that the war exerted on its citizens as the struggle dragged on year after year. The posts not only address subjects relating to the different branches of the military, but also the home front and how the average resident of St. Louis did their part in the war.
