"Penis Landscape"

As a show of artistic freedom, the Dead Kennedys included a print of a painting titled “Penis Landscape” as a foldout in their 1985 album Frankenchrist. They also included a disclaimer that “The inside foldout to this record cover is a work of art by H.R. Giger that some may find shocking, repulsive or offensive. Life can be that way sometimes.”

Despite their warning, the Parents Music Resource Center targeted the band for distributing “harmful matter,” and they were taken to trial in June 1986. The case was eventually dismissed, but the stress did cause the Dead Kennedys to break up.
